Hard Labour...

Monday was HARD WORK! I was physically hurting when the day was done...

A lot of lugging of boxes (and sofas and coffee tables) was involved...

Fortunately I had my team mate Shaima here to help me. We had to completely turn around the office firstly i.e. handle several very heavy boxes and clothes rails.

We then had to make two separate journeys to the shop on the bus with more than we could carry really...the 'Big Penis Book(s)' and 'Big Book of Boobs' were a special treat to carry!

The afternoon consisted of us arranging for a sofa to be transported across west London from the bosses house to the office...yes we had a courier but we still had to load and unload the van and get up a floor of the office block.
Next challenge was to fit the sofa together (it was currently in pieces)...after about an hour we came to the decision that there was definitely a piece of it missing...brill!

At least I didn't feel bad for not going to the gym after work that day...

Flower Power...

Spent most of my Friday in the VB Shop in Notting Hill...

Willa has had the idea to revamp one of the display walls with a load of faux flowers she brought back from Vietnam...

So my job was to pull all the flower heads off of the flowers and staple gun (with the staple gun we had to buy in B&Q the other day...it's all coming together now...) the flowers on to the wall; creating this thick blanket of flowers.

I've got to say, despite the hurting hand (those staple guns are hard work) it did begin to look amazing...

Really want to do a wall in my own room :)

A Different Day For The Interns...

Today consisted of me and Shaima running around good old West London (or maybe I should say, getting lost), collecting very un-fashion related things...

Took us about 2 hours to find this bloody place to start with...

Then we had to go to the cash and carry, Booker...which to be honest was pretty cool, especially as we had to go to the sweet isle! (Lovehearts for the goody bags for the Valentines day event).

OMG look at these cables...all time favourite.

Think we also ended up in B&Q of all places at one point...

The Boss Is Back...

The owner of Village Bicycle has been buying in SE Asia for the past 4/5 weeks so I am yet to meet her...
Wednesday morning Willa Keswick bursts into the office and we are all greeted with "Hello Shitheads!!"

She's funny, so laid back like the rest of the VB team, but pretty mad (obviously in a good way) all the same!

Some of the stuff she's brought back from her travels is so sick...perfect for the VB vibe. To be honest I recognise a lot of it from when I was travelling around SE Asia and think to myself what a genius plan /  scheme Willa has going here...

Check it...

The trolls are going to have their hair replaced with cacti!

Still Loving...

So, beginning of week 2...still just helping Mia with blog posts and the social media sites but it's all cool!

Its Definitely All Worked Out For The Best...

After a first (almost full) week at The Village Bicycle, I've come to realise that perhaps the phrase 'everything happens for a reason' might be partly true...
I'm enjoying myself so much. The girls in the office are so friendly and laid back but also clearly know exactly what they're dealing with in the world of fashion.

Check out the office...its cute...

I've spent the majority of my first week writing articles for The Village Bicycle blog...

It's cool to have to do a bit of writing for a change, its really made my brain work but in a good way! VB are a lifestyle brand as well as a fashion brand so I've been set tasks to write about musicians, djs, actors and cultural issues as well as obviously fashion stories.

VB are collaborating with a new restaurant / bar in Notting Hill called 'Rum Kitchen' (a Caribbean themed place) for a promotional night on Valentines day. Another task I was set during the week was to do some research for Mia into this. They've decided due to the night being on Valentines day, they're going to make it a speed dating evening. Therefore, I was set the task this week also to think up / find some interesting speed dating questions (fairly amusing), think up some names of cocktails and research some imagery which could perhaps be used on flyers promoting the night. I had to try and encorporate the VB brand aswell as the feel of Rum Kitchen as well as the idea of Valentines day into all of it.
This was a cool task and I ended up getting some pretty good feedback from my work...
Just hoping I get an invite to the event now!! (I'm not sure speed dating will be on the cards for me...although I have been single for quite a while now...)

VB are very on the ball when it comes to promoting their brand through social networking sites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr). Mia has put me in charge this week, and for the rest of my time there, of posting daily feeds on the VB Facebook. These vary from sales posts to just funny images found on Tumblr for example which the VB audience would appreciate :)

Just a few more snaps from around the office...

Defo not used to these long days though...some of these bad boys at lunchtime keep me going...

It's All Gone Tits Up...

So...first problem...was let down by the placement I had secured since November on the weekend prior to the Monday I was meant to start...Brilliant!

7th Man Magazine = down the pan.

However (after a sleepless, food-less, extremely stressful few days) my dear friend Shaima managed to sort me out a placement at the same place as her...'The Village Bicycle'. What a LIFESAVER.
I kind of felt like I was just there as a bit of a favour...however, I have since learnt that they were in fact looking for another intern anyway...perfect!

'The Village Bicycle' is a cool little shop in Notting Hill...I'm working in the offices behind the scenes. I'll be mainly assisting the Online Fashion Editor; Mia Lillingston...
